Court Sentences for Water Pollution Offenses - 2001-2003

Updated: 23/01/2005

The Water Law of 1959 establishes the framework for the control and protection of Israel's water resources. Numerous regulations have been promulgated pursuant to this law. Additional laws deal with the prevention of sewage and effluent discharge into water sources.

In recent years, enforcement against polluters of Israel’s water sources has significantly increased. Between the years 2001 - 2003, charges were pressed against 163 offenders and 102 sentences were handed down by the courts.
