Water quantity and water quality are inextricably linked. The depletion of the country’s main water sources is exacerbated by the deteriorating quality of water resources due to demographic, industrial and agricultural pressures and to overexploitation of the country’s water reservoirs beyond the natural replenishment rate. To deal with Israel’s water crisis, the government has approved a basket of measures, ranging from water conservation to wastewater treatment, to desalination, which should help to balance the water equation.
